About Us
The Williamson County Financial Stability Coalition (The Coalition) is a unique gathering of dedicated staff and volunteers who, over the past two years, have collaborated to strategically help low to moderate income and elderly residents become more financially stable.
The Coalition is working to improve the economic means of low to moderate income and elderly residents within Williamson County, initially by providing free income tax preparation services. This will allow these residents the potential to realize a larger amount of earned income tax credits, child tax credits and education credits, thereby increasing their income and improving their standard of living.
Coalition Goals
The Coalition aims to improve the economic means of the Williamson County residents by increasing their access to free income tax preparation services. In its first year (tax year 2010) the Coalition expanded the availability of free tax preparation services by increasing the hours at several sites and adding a site in Taylor and one in Leander. For the 2011 tax year, the Coalition is expanding the free tax preparation services by adding another VITA site in Georgetown. These expanded free services will allow the Coalition to assist an additional 1,000 low to moderate income taxpayers across Williamson County.
